Looks like Jeremy Lin didn’t help much with getting nationally televised games. The Rockets will only have two games on ESPN, and just four games on NBA TV. Not a single Rockets game will be televised on TNT. The Houston Rockets get disrespected in my opinion.
Houston will start the season off on Halloween in Detroit. Their first home game will be on November 3rd against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Rockets first game on national television will be on December 17th against the New York Knicks on NBA TV. Jeremy Lin will walk into Madison Square Garden in a red uniform for the first time, not knowing if he will be cheered or booed by the harsh New York crowd. This game will be one of the most anticipated matchups of the season.
On Christmas day the Rockets will head to Chicago to play the Bulls on ESPN. It will be Omer Asik’s second game against the Bulls, but the first in Chicago. Asik vs. Noah will be exciting to watch.
On January 23rd Houston will face the Denver Nuggets at home. On NBA TV. February 13th they will take a trip to Los Angeles and face the Clippers also on NBA TV. March 8th they will face the Golden State Warriors on ESPN. And on their final game on national TV they will be at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 15th, where they will go against former Houston Rocket Chase Budinger on NBA TV.
I thought for sure the signing of Lin would bring more games on national TV for the Rockets, which it did, but not as many as i expected. I think the Rockets deserve a little more respect than that.
Houston will host the 2013 NBA All-Star game from February 15th-17th, which will help them get more publicity, Especially if Lin is voted in as a starter, which i think is a lock to happen.
