The Houston Rockets will begin their 2012 preseason against the Western Conference Champion Oklahoma City Thunder in Hidalgo, Texas on October 10th.
The Rockets will head back home for the next two games. They will host the New Orleans Hornets on October 12th. After that they will host the in-state rival San Antonio Spurs on October 14th. Houston will then travel to Dallas to play the other in-state rival in the Mavericks on October 15th. Then they will go back home for their final home preseason game of the year to face the Memphis Grizzlies on October 17th. They will play the Hornets for the second time in the preseason on October 24th in New Orleans. And to finish out the preseason they will face the Orlando Magic for the first time without Dwight Howard on October 26th.
The preseason is going to be very crucial for a team like the Rockets. Their entire roster is field with young guys looking for playing time, a roster spot and to make a name for themsevles. It will be the first time Jeremy Lin suits up as a Rocket. We will get to see how Lin and Asik play together, as well as the three rookie Lamb, White and Jones.
The Rockets will start the season on the road on Halloween night against the Detroit Pistons. This will kickoff a rebuilding year and the start of a new Linsanity.
