The Houston Rockets have assigned rookie forward/center Donatas Motiejunas to D-League affiliate Rio Grande Valley, while recalling fellow rookie forward Terrence Jones to the Rockets roster.  This will be Motiejunas’s third assignment to the D-League this season, in which he has played four games for the Vipers, averaging 23.5 points and 8.3 rebounds in his first two stints.  In 14 games with the Rockets, Motiejunas has averaged 1.6 points in 3.1 minutes.  He will be available for the Vipers Wednesday when they play host to the Texas Legends at State Farm Arena.

Jones has played with the Vipers for the last 10 games.  Overall in the D-League, Jones has played a total of 12 games, averaging 19.1 points and 9.8 rebounds.  One of three 1st round picks by the Rockets last summer, Jones has seen action in 11 games for Houston, averaging 3.1 points in 8.3 minutes.  He will be in uniform Wednesday night when the Rockets take on the Denver Nuggets.

I’m pretty sure Houston is prepping Donatas for a trade that will be regretted a year or two later. My fave team can’t see the amount of talent this guy has, just like they did with Lin. Now we bought back Lin for a big premium after we waived him. It’s disappointing that we aren’t giving him PT on the big stage to develop his game and to make him a competitor that will help lead our young team in the future. Big opportunity being squandered here.

      Thanks for the comment Curtisrock,

I think the Rockets should have looked into giving Donatas some PT as well, especially with the recent struggles at the power forward position. Hopefully De-Mo can continue to work, and maybe Terrence Jones can step in and produce if he is called upon.

D Mo is still too much of a defensive liability. I have no idea why he doesnt get a run in all the garbage times, however. Who is going to trade for this guy? lol seriously…if its part of a trade it will be just to make numbers
