Recap: Houston Rockets 113 Atlanta Hawks 84

The Houston Rockets took off in the 1st quarter and never stopped en route to a 113-84 blowout of the Atlanta Hawks on Thanksgiving Eve.

After another 30 point quarter the Rockets got off to an early lead, and continued to add to their streak of leading at home, dating back to the November 11th game against Toronto (in OT). That was 13 quarters ago.

Terrence Jones had the hot hand early, getting Hawks players off their feet with ball fakes, and connecting on both his first half threes, finishing with 14 points and 6 boards.

Jeremy Lin sustained a right knee bruise and left the game with about eight minutes left in the first quarter and did not return. The lost of Lin gave Aaron Brooks more court time and he excelled in Lin’s absence. Brooks dropped a game high (tied with Francisco Garcia) 21 points, connecting on 4 out 6 three pointers.

Dwight Howard had a humble 11 points and 8 boards, while Omer Asik contributed 10 points and 9 boards in 20 minutes. The Rockets bench was once again too much to handle for the opposition. Overall, the Houston bench scored 67 points against the Hawks.  The aforementioned Garcia had 21 points and Ronnie Brewer made an appearance scoring three points.

Parsons has scored in double figures in 11 straight games. … Coach Kevin McHale said before the game that Harden was feeling better on Wednesday and that he doesn’t expect him to be out for any extended time.
