Unfortunately for Chandler Parsons, his career game was not enough to lead the Houston Rockets to a win. Parsons made a career high and franchise record 10 3-pointers in a losing cause as the Memphis Grizzlies came out of Toyota Center with a 88-87 win.

Parsons finished with 34 points in all, knocking down 10 of 14 from behind the 3-point line, with all 10 makes coming in the 2nd half. Dwight Howard scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while James Harden struggled once again against the Grizzlies, shooting just 2 for 11 from the field, scoring just 11 points. Harden was able to distribute the ball well; however, dishing out 13 assists.

The Rockets had to cancel their morning shootaround due to the freezing weather conditions in the area, and it showed, as they shot for 14(7 percent) from long distance in the first half. The Grizzlies also controlled the boards, holding a 26-17 edge in the first half, but led just 44-35.

But the Rockets would turn things around at the start of the 3rd quarter, making their first 3 shots, including 2 3-pointers from Parsons to go on a 10-0 run, which was the first lead of the game. Parsons would drain 6 3’s in the quarter, helping the Rockets tie the game at 64 going into the 4th quarter.

Even with Parsons’ red-hot shooting, the Rockets weren’t able to gain a lead in the 4th until his 9th 3-pointer with over 4 minutes left made it 83-82.

Courtney Lee converted on a layup, and James Johnson scored on the next possession to put the Grizzlies up 4 points with 2 minutes left. After Parsons hit his 10th 3 to bring the Rockets within 1, 2 bad possessions in the final 30 seconds, including not getting a shot off on in the final seconds sealed the win for the Grizzlies.

Lee would lead the Grizzlies on offense, finishing with 19 points, while Zach Randolph finished with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Johnson, who made an impact off the bench in the previous matchup, added 8 of his 10 points in the 4th quarter.
