Houston Rockets Daily Rocket Science – So you lost to the Nets

facebooktwitterreddit

Welp.

That’s all you can say after losing to the worst team in the league. The Brooklyn Nets?! Really? Just after it was okay to take the finger off the panic button – we’re right back to where we started.

Chalk it up to the Houston Rockets missing 26 three-pointers, taking only 6 trips to the free throw line or letting Shane freaking Larkin score 15 points – it was just a bad night. You can tell yourself to shake it off all you want… but it’s freaking BROOKLYN.

Do the best you can to take your mind off Wednesday’s events with some of the readings below. I will admit I didn’t do a great job of picking out the happiest of articles, but the interview with Daryl Morey is fun! Try and stay optimistic peeps, it’s a very long season.

Houston Rockets news and notes from around the web

Sigh… this one makes me sad. It was announced Wednesday K.J. McDaniels would be sent down to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the D-League. While the article says McDaniels shouldn’t be discouraged, I am. I love K.J. – his bouncy, high energy, up-and-down style of play is so much fun. I was really looking forward to see where he fit in the rotation, but apparently that will have to wait… for now.

"McDaniels should not be discouraged about his move to the D-League. His lack of playing time says more about the Rockets depth than it does about his potential. It being only his second season in the league, it is difficult for McDaniels to crack a rotation that is filled out by veteran guards and forwards"

This one was a bit of a scare when it came across my news feed. Patrick Beverly was arrested yesterday for having an outstanding fine on his EZ tag. Yes, Beverly missed morning shoot around because of highway tolls. It’s an unbelievable face palm moment for a guy who nearly makes $800,000 a year. Luckily, he was able to get it all resolved to shoot 1-5 from the field in last night’s loss.

"Like many of us, Beverly has an EZ Tag, He may not have even realized his account was expired when he went through the EZ Tag-only lane back in February. He got a violation in the mail, which he didn’t pay within ten days."

Calvin Watkins has made many appearances in this daily post now, and for good reason. They guy is a hound for good Rockets news, and this Q&A with general manager Daryl Morey may be his best feature yet. There’s stuff in here about the early season panic, performance by new acquisitions and of course, analytics.

Questions and answers with Rockets GM Daryl Morey [ESPN NBA – Calvin Watkins]

"Daryl Morey: I think Coach (Kevin McHale) and I are constantly watching how the team is playing especially early, not as worried about what the record is. But we’ve won enough games and I think we want to continue to play well on offense like we have the past few games and tighten up the defense."

Ugh, these people again. The Kardashians have once again made their way to Daily Rocket Science, but this time for something positive. Positive? You read it correctly. There is a lot of comparison in this article between Lamar Odom and James Harden, both on and off the court. Kevin Ding actually does a really good job in this piece of pop culture meets NBA, so I’ll let him take it from here:

Reality TV Shocker: Kardashians’ Blueprint Helping James Harden Find His Rhythm [Bleacher Report NBA – Kevin Ding]

"Imagine Odom’s surprise that so many of the scenes in the family’s TV shows were created interactions on a prearranged topic with assigned characters. Right or wrong, that work is purposeful. And the same goes for the way Harden plays ball, whether you respect or condemn his unabashed hunt for free throws."

If there’s one thing fun you can take away from last night it was Dwight Howard. Dwight played a hell of a game and this dunk capped off his big night. Just watch the loop while you gulp down that Ben and Jerry’s in your lap while you cry slowly under your desk.

This was mean. #DwightSlamhttps://t.co/QCxwZ9VQrI
