A look at three main points in the Houston Rockets win over the Timberwolves.

After losing to the Clippers, the Houston Rockets bounced back with an 116-111 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The past two games were the perfect example of the inconsistency of their season.

A duel between rookie sensations Karl-Anthony Towns and James Harden made this one of the most entertaining games of the season. Before taking on the Atlanta Hawks tonight, here are three takeaways from last night’s victory.

Three Things We Saw

The Beasley X-Factor

In back-to-back games against the Clippers and Timberwolves. No one has played harder than Michael Beasley. So much so, he may have surpassed Dwight Howard as the second best Rocket. (Well, not exactly.)

In just seven games, Beasley is averaging 12.4 points and 4.9 rebounds. This makes him the most effective player off the Rockets’ bench. Against the Timberwolves, Beasley posted 17 points and 6 rebounds in the win.

With the way Beasley has played since signing with the Rockets. Houston has finally found a Sixth Man they can rely on for the second unit. Hopefully,  Beasley can find a way to stay consistent. If so, the Rockets will be a tough team to stop in the playoffs.

Beas!

The Heart and Soul of the Rockets

"“He’s a spark plug. He’s the fire starter. He makes those plays that kind of make the hair on your neck stand up a little bit, make you pucker a little bit and get into it a little bit more, and I think the guys feed off of that, they feed off of his energy.”- JB Bickerstaff"

After he felt sorry for the Timberwolves at the end of their players-only meeting. Patrick Beverley was far from sympathetic. He posted 18 points and a career-high 10 dimes.

For the first time all season, he and James Harden looked like an unstoppable backcourt. As they combined for 47 points and 24 assists. Behind Beverley’s hot start hitting three triples. The Rockets got off to one of their best starts of the year.

I hate to admit this, but perhaps Patrick Beverley is the perfect point guard for Houston. Much like Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. Partick Beverley is the heart and soul of the Rockets.

Beverley has his career high for assists with 10 after setting up Howard at rim. Going to line with 15p.

Karl-Anthony Towns is Really Good.

The potential Rookie of the Year has been on a hot streak lately.

Over the last 10 games, Karl-Anthony Towns has posted 20.6 points and 10.5 rebounds. While shooting 59.6 percent from the field. In an effort to upset the Rockets, Towns torched Houston for 31 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Mark my words, Karl-Anthony Towns will be a top-tier player in this league sooner than many expected. After watching him run circles around Dwight Howard and Clint Capela, I think I’ve become a fan of the Special K Show.

Towns is quickly establishing himself as an elite scorer but has to increase his contributions in other categories on the court. Once Towns becomes a better defender, the Timberwolves will become a deadly force in the West. The future seems bright for the young and talented Timberwolves.
