The Rockets looked very impressive tonight in Las Vegas against the Toronto Raptors. Donatas Motiejunas stole the show with his 25 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in 25 minutes.
I was very intrigued with what i saw from Jeremy Lamb, Terrence Jones, Chandler Parsons, Donatas Motiejunas and Scott Machado. Lamb looked like the scoring guard i thought he would be. Parsons looked liked he bulked up a bit and was running the floor very well. Motiejunas as i said, stole the show and looked like a future star in this league. Terrence Jones played exactly how i didn’t think he would be able to. I can definitely see him being a rotation guy in front of Patterson if he keeps this up. McHale speaks highly of him, which he never does about a rookie. Machado looked like a floor general out there, making all the right plays. He didn’t score much, but that’s not what the Rockets are looking for from him.
I was unimpressed with Royce White. Maybe it was just a bad game, nerves, or maybe even his anxiety disorder. But he looked out of place on the court. Hopefully he comes back strong tomorrow night.
Marcus Morris was very disappointing in the first half, but picked it back up in the 2nd half. He’s still not playing up to his potential. Hopefully he can start to improve his play in each game.
Game 2 is tomorrow at 9pm against the Washington Wizards. I would like to see Zoran Dragic and Manny Harris get some playing time. I’d also like to see Machado start over Fortson and take some of his minutes. See if the kid can potentially start for the Rockets if Houston can’t find another point guard.
