This will be a great matchup for both teams in the first game of the season. The Houston Rockets and the Detroit Pistons share a lot of similarities in that they are both young and looking to breakout this coming up season. They both have young studs looking to make a name for themselves by leading their respected teams into the playoffs.

The big men for both teams will be put to the test early. Omer Asik and Donatas Motiejunas will face off against the Detroit twin towers in Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond. D-Mo and Drummond will both look to show off their skills for the first time in a NBA uniform while Asik and Monroe look to silence the critics and have monster years in the paint.

This will be the first time the world will see Jeremy Lin play in an NBA regular seasons game after leaving New York. He will face off against another up-and-coming young guard in Brandon Knight. Both guys have a lot of potential and will look to be the leaders of their newly enhanced franchises.

James Harden will make his debut with the Rockets along with Lin. Harden is now the go-to-guy for Houston and will look to take another giant leap in his young career. He’s already a star. Now he wants to become a superstar. Let’s see if Harden can live up to the hype on his new path in the NBA.

Another newcomer Carlos Delfino will suit up for the first time in a Rockets uniform. I’m still not sure of his role, but his shooting and hard work are always a good thing to have on your team.

Terrence Jones will also make his first appearance and will most likely see some playing time against Austin Daye. Look for Jones to rock him to sleep with that deadly jab-step he has.

This game will be very exciting to watch with all the young guns going at it looking to make a great impression and earn playing time. I expect the Rockets to come out winners after this game due to having a deeper team and one that has played well together in training camp. The Pistons struggled a lot last year and will look to show more consistency this season, I just don’t expect it in the first game.
