Houston Rockets Sign Patrick Beverley

By Kyle Adams

It has been reported that the Houston Rockets have signed guard Patrick Beverley.

Beverley is a 6’1, 180 pound point guard. He played college ball for the Arkansas Razorbacks for two years. He then left to play overseas, which is where he has been ever since. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 42nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, but was traded to the Miami Heat shortly after. At 24 years old he has never played an NBA game, but it looks like that may change soon.

He has won multiple awards overseas including the Eurocup Mvp in 2012. He’s definitely a combo guard who thinks shoot first, pass second, similar to Toney Douglas. But with his height he will definitely have to play mostly point guard in the NBA. He’s very athletic and definitely fits into the style of play the Rockets run. Unlike Douglas he is more of a volume scorer than just a shooter. He likes to get in the paint and make things happen.

There has been no word on who the Rockets will cut to make way for Beverley. But all signs point to point guard Scott Machado.
