Houston Rockets second-year forward Chandler Parsons has been selected to participate in the 2013 NBA Rising Stars Challenge. He will be representing his team in his city. How more special can it get?
The game will be played on February 15th and the teams will be picked in a draft by the two head coaches Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal. The teams will be combined of 16 rookies and sophomores.
Chandler was snubbed from playing in the game last year even though he was named to the NBA’s All Rookie Second-Team.
“I didn’t make it last year so I definitely wanted to prove to people that I can play and I can play with the best of them. I’m glad it paid off. I’m glad people recognized it.”
“It means a lot that coaches and fans respect my game and respect the way I play and that I’m considered one of the best first two-year players in the NBA. That’s a huge honor, especially being in Houston, to go and represent the Rockets is real special to me.”
Although he did not play in the game last year he did compete in the Shooting Stars competition where his team finished second. He also assisted Chase Budinger in the dunk contest, who also got snubbed from winning it.
It’s going to be a fun weekend to be a Houston Rockets fan. I’m sure Chandler Parsons and James Harden will make us all proud.
