Houston Rockets vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview

This is a huge game for the Houston Rockets. It will be a battle of two Western Conference teams that will love to go into the All-Star break on a winning streak.

Keys to a Rockets victory:

Jeremy Lin must produce more than usual, especially with James Harden being a game-time decision. That’s a lot to ask for a guy to play big against the best point guard in the game in Chris Paul but it will need to be done. Lin has been on a hot streak as of late. It will be huge if Lin can continue that against the Clippers.

Patrick Patterson and Marcus Morris must make Blake Griffin work for everything. Make him take jump shots. I can live with him beating you with jumpers, but not with poster dunks.

Omer Asik must find a way to keep up with Deandre Jordan. Asik is much bigger and stronger, but he’s also slower and not near as athletic. Both guys will look to take advantage of each other’s weaknesses.

The Rockets bench will need to produce at a high rate. The Clippers are probably the deepest team in the league. Guys like Morris and Carlos Delfino need to knock down shots and play defense in order for the Rockets to walk out with a win.

It’s going to be a tough game for both teams, but at this point the Clippers are just a notch above the Rockets, especially if Harden can’t go. With that being said, the Rockets have surprised me all season. Maybe they can do it again tonight.
