Ronnie Brewer arrived in Houston earlier this week to take his physical, and agree to a two-year deal with the Houston Rockets. Brewer talked to HOUSTON (FOX 26) about signing with the Rockets.
“I’m going to come in and play as hard as I possibly can. From the time I step on the court I’m in training camp, and hopefully the coaches, the players and the fans can take notice of that.
“They play my style,” Brewer said. “Dwight Howard is a defender, but can get up and down the court.
“Same thing with James Harden, (Chandler) Parsons and Jeremy Lin. We’re going to get up and down the court. You need defenders. I think I fill both of those (areas).”
“If I come in and do what I need to do, play at a high level, defend at a high level and knock down shots when I have the opportunity, I feel like I can make this team.
“Whenever they reached out to me it was a compliment, but I knew if I came here they were going to expect a lot out of me and play at a high level. So that’s what I intend to do.
“This is definitely a place that you want to be.”
Ronnie Brewer is heading into his 8th season, and with his signing, the Rockets have 19 players under contract. His experience and defensive background will help in making a roster spot. The chances are high for Brewer based on the lack of perimeter defenders on the team.
