Space City Weekly: Episode 4

On Episode 4, we break down the Houston Rockets point guards.Of course Jeremy Lin is the starter, as he should be. He is the best passer and floor general, he just has to work on the turnovers. Patrick Beverley showed his abilities last postseason, so he is sure to see substantial minutes, bringing intensity, and aggressiveness off the bench. Aaron Brooks and Isaiah Canaan also look to earn minutes next season. Houstonians are familiar with Brooks, and when you least expect it he can show glimpses of years past, but Beverly is a younger version, without the three-pointer accuracy. Unfortunately for Canaan he missed the Orlando Summer League due to an injured ankle. The Rockets play their preseason games in Taiwan and the Philippines and I’m not sure the setting will give Canaan a solid chance to impress the coaches heading into the season. Another reason for Canaan and Brooks to be concerned was news the Rockets were working out veteran Royal Ivey. Ivey is a solid defender and possess size and strength that Beverly, and Brooks do not have.
We pay homage to Tracy McGrady who last week announced his retirement after 16 seasons in the NBA. What are the chances Tracy McGrady makes the Hall-of-Fame. This year list of retirees is Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Grant Hill, and Derek Fisher. In five years this group will make for an interesting induction class.
