The basketball gods have chosen to bless the Houston Rockets, and that blessing has come in the form of Hall-of-Famer Hakeem Olajuwon. When the Rockets brought on Olajuwon as a “Bigs” coach we all knew he would continue to add polish to the skills he had already schooled Dwight Howard on. He would also help to develop some sort of post game for Omer Asik. (still waiting on that one)
Today at the first Rockets practice there were one-on-one instructions. Thanks to the folks over at ClutchFans, we get to see the Dream, working out with the Beard, James Harden. Last season Harden didn’t have many post up opportunities, but watching him take advice from Olajuwon is incredibly enjoyable to watch. I seriously have watched the video about ten times, plus Dwight Howard is shooting and MAKING free throws in the video. All that was left out was Aaron Brooks standing on Patrick Beverly‘s shoulders pretending to be a new center the Rockets picked up. Also worth noting the gait that Rockets head coach Kevin McHale has. Legendary.
When asked afterwards why so many players want to work out with Dream, Harden said,
“Did you see his highlights? Did you see what he did when he played?”
