The magical learning lesson that is one-on-one instruction from Houston Rockets Hall-of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon continued on Day 2 of training camp. On Day 1 it was James Harden who didn’t see much time in the post last season, learning some moves from the Dream to add to his left-hand repertoire. Next up for instruction was Donatas Motiejunas. Donatas is fresh from a FIBA tournament where his play was poor, but seeing the added weight the Lithuanian native put on was encouraging.
D-Mo called it a “pleasure” and an “honor” that Hakeem invited him to workout with him.
“You see, he moves faster than me on the court,” said Motiejunas. “I don’t know how old is he. He didn’t tell me how old is he. I was impressed. I was thinking he’s like a center, a big guy, but he moves like a forward. There are many things I can take from his game and apply to mine.”
A tad concerned with the fact Olajuwon moves better then D-Mo, and even more concerned with D-Mo being aware of it.
Most of what Olajuwon worked on was exactly what he worked on with Harden. Also worth noting D-Mo fumbled the ball on numerous occasions. Maybe he was nervous.
Here is some video of the workout:
