The Houston Rockets invite fans to participate in the 12th Annual Rockets Run presented by Bowen, Miclette & Britt (BMB), benefiting Lone Star Veterans Association on Saturday, November 9, 2013.
The Houston Rockets are committed to promoting community fitness for the entire family while raising money for a great organization. For every participant $3 will be donated directly to the Lone Star Veterans Association. We are also encouraging participants to make additional donations to this wonderful cause. You may make an additional donation during the online registration process. The Lone Star Veterans Association is focused on helping returning veterans who have served after September 11th, 2001. With multiple deployments into combat zones and missions around the world, the newest generations of veterans faces unique challenges when coming home. Their mission is to give every veteran a chance to succeed.
As the Rockets Run tips off the season, we want fans to stay active and in shape while experiencing the thrill of crossing the finish line on the Rockets center court at Toyota Center. Each 5K runner will receive their official timing with the Disposable Tag System (D-Tag).
Rockets Run participants can choose to compete in the 5K run, 2 Mile walk, or Kids 1K (with Clutch the Bear). All courses take runners through several blocks of midtown Houston, then turn back toward Toyota Center. The final legs of all the races will go underneath the Tundra Garage and the arena, before emerging on the Rockets hardwood court—32 feet below street level.
Registration cost for the 5K and 2 mile walk will be $30 for early registration, $35 after October 18 and $40 on the day of the race.
Registration cost for the Kids’ 1K will be $20 for early registration, $25 after October 18 and $30 on the day of the race.
After crossing the finish line, participants are invited to head to the Post Race Party. The celebration includes trophy presentations for the top 10 finishers, along with free food, drinks, and entertainment for all participants.
The fun does not end after the post-race party, every participant receives one ticket voucher to a select Rockets home game. Registration fee includes admission to the race, a race packet complete with T-shirt and other sponsor items, plus admission to the post-race party and the Rockets game ticket.
Medals will be awarded for the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers of the 5K in 13 different age groups. The top overall male and female runners of the 5K race will receive trophies! Awards will be based on tag time and all runners must wear their tag to receive recognition for their participation and awards.
