San Antonio Spurs – Pre-Season Record: 3-4

Will these old San Antonio Spurs have the ability to make another run at an NBA Championship? The answer is yes. Never count out a Gregg Popovich coached team. Pop is the best coach in the league hands down. I know Doc Rivers fans may disagree, but Popovich has a way of always making his team competitive. Of course many things need to go right for the Spurs.

The big-3 in Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili must stay healthy, as they all missed time last season. They re-signed Duncan’s partner-in-crime Tiago Splitter to help down low. Danny Green will not shoot like he did in the first two games of the NBA Finals the entire season, but he is definitely going to be a threat from the 3-point line.

Kawhi Leonard is the X-factor on this team. The 22-year old out of San Diego State has already established himself as one of the best young players in the game. His athleticism is through the roof and he only improved on the offensive end this past season. Already entering his third season in the NBA, Leonard’s play will go a long way in determining how far the Spurs go this season.

The biggest addition San Antonio made this year, which I love, is adding Marco Belinelli from the Chicago Bulls. Belinelli is another shooting specialist that will come off the bench, and when Danny Green is resting, the Spurs will hardly lose a step. With the addition of Belinelli, improvement from Green and Leonard, and a healthy big-3, I would expect to see Gregg Popovich carry the Spurs back to a top-3 seed in the Western Conference and be ready to make what may be a final run at an NBA Championship.
