Houston Rockets: Player Grades in Win over Memphis Grizzlies

Terrence Jones: A

The Rockets’ two superstars only attempted 14 shots—who was hogging the ball tonight? This guy. Jones connected on 10 of his 14 shots, tallying 20 points and 5 rebounds. He had to man the paint tonight due to Howard’s foul trouble, attaining two blocks in the process. Though inconsistent since being inserted in the starting lineup, he spaces the floor for other players to create. He’s been satisfactory in the absence of injured Omer Asik and his shooting touch is the perfect complement to Howard.

Aaron Brooks: C-

Brooks has been getting more minutes lately due to Beverley’s injury. He’s usually an essential spark off the bench, providing his exceptional quickness to speed up the Rockets’ offense. He scored six points in 14 minutes but sprained his ankle in the second half.

Omri Casspi/Fransisco Garcia/Donatas Motiejunas: D

Motiejunas got everybody excited. He helped fill the Howard-sized hole in the paint and played the most minutes he has all season. The trio combined for 5-of-11 field-goal shooting. While Motiejunas and Garcia played well, Casspi struggled to find the rim and, as a result, didn’t stay on the court; he tallied two points and a rebound.

Note: I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas filled with love, laughs and great food. I want to thank each and every one of my family members for putting everything aside to spend some quality time with the ones they love. It was my first holiday season surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins and more in almost a decade, and the experience ensured I will never spend another Christmas without them. I want to especially thank my Aunt Pauline, who gave me the most surprising gift of all—a Bad Boy Detroit Pistons autographed championship pennant; and, of course, my mom, who always makes sure each Christmas is better than the last one—and somehow succeeds. I’m blessed to not only be her son, but have such a great family to surround me (and put up with me) whenever I come home.
