The Rockets started off slow, shooting just 29 percent(7 for 24) from the field in the 1st quarter, but only trailed 27-19. The second quarter, however, would be the complete opposite: 33 points, 58 percent(11 for 19) shooting from the field, and the Rockets took a comfortable 53-43 halftime lead that would stretch to 19 points by the end of the 3rd quarter.

The Celtics showed some life, starting the 4th quarter on a 16-9 run to cut the lead to 93-80 with under 6 minutes remaining. Jerryd Bayless then converted on a 3-point lead to make the score 93-83 before going to the Hack-A-Howard. The Rockets would survive the span as Howard hit 6 of 12 from the free throw line, but Bayless, who scored 15 of his 17 points in the 4th, would keep the Celtics within striking distance, cutting the lead to 100-92 with 2 minutes left.

Lin then scored on a layup, and a Bayless turnover on the ensuing Celtics possession turned into an easy lay in for Jones on the other end to stretch the Rockets lead to 104-92 to put the game away.
