The next 48 hours or so will be a whirlwind in NBA trade rumors, as the trade deadline is set to approach on Thursday at 2 PM ET. Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is currently trying to find a deal for center Omer Asik, something that has been happening all season, but now, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo, the Rockets are also actively shopping Jeremy Lin:
“Houston would love to trade center Omer Asik, and a source said it is actively shopping Jeremy Lin as well. Both, however, have pricey contracts.”
What’s strange about this is that Spears stated earlier Monday evening in the original publishing of his NBA Power Rankings that Lin would not be moved:
“4. Houston Rockets (36-17; last week’s ranking: 7): While Houston would love to trade Omer Asik, a source said it won’t trade reserve Jeremy Lin due to the scoring value he brings.”
Both Asik and Lin will be owed around $15 million next year in salary, but $8 million in cap hit.
