The Houston Rockets announced that assistant coach Dean Cooper has been let go, as well as strength and conditioning coordinator Darryl Eto.

Cooper was in his second stint with the Rockets’ organization, having served under Rudy Tomjanovich during his first stint.

Eto just completed his 3rd season, and the Rockets have declined his option to return for a 4th year.

NBA.com writer Fran Blinebury tweeted out that Cooper was ousted because of the Rockets’ problems on defense, but felt like he wasn’t the one to be let go.

Anybody missing a scapegoat? Rockets bringing back head coach Kevin McHale, have fired assistant Dean Cooper, citing problems with defense.
