In a poll on Real GM, voters were asked what grade they would grade the Rockets 2014 offseason. This was an offseason that saw the Rockets strike out on several free agents, most notably Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony. A lateral swap of Chandler Parson for Trevor Ariza does little to affect the team either way.

Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik were virtually given away to clear cap space, and that depletes the Rockets’ depth. Instead, the Rockets are counting on young players like Terrence Jones, Isaiah Canaan and Donatas Motiejunas to improve to the level that any could step in and start if an injury occurred. That said, not a lot of voters thought Rockets GM Daryl Morey did a good job in building on last year’s team.

76.8 percent of voters gave the Rockets a ‘thumb down.’ There is the caveat that the Rox will have cap space next offseason, but at this point, it doesn’t represent much with Bosh and Melo having spurned the Rockets. Kyle Lowry was a miss too. The hope is that next season one of the major names takes his talents to the Space City
