Washington Wizards teammate Marcin Gortat said he didn’t think Trevor Ariza made his free agency decision solely based on money. The Polish Hammer speculated said, “In my opinion I think he was trying to get back to the West.”

The Houston Rockets awarded Ariza with a four-year $32 million contract, a fraction of the money Dallas spent on former forward Chandler Parsons. Ariza has already played once with the Houston Rockets, but has adapted a lot more since that time and become a very good role player. As to why Ariza prefers the Western Conference, it’s anyone’s guess; but his best pro seasons did come in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, arguably.
