Houston Rockets Recap:

Once again the Rockets took care of business without the services of Dwight Howard available. They may need to continue this effort given the Rockets are saying there is swelling on Howard’s knee which doesn’t sound conducive to a expedited return.

93. 169. 87. 18.

For the second consecutive game the Rockets utilized more ball movement, multiple scorers and a return to their defensive focus to garner the win.

At times they took large margin leads including an 18-point half time lead, but these Celtics are scrappy bunch with no quit in them. The young Celtics  played their best quarter coming out of the half holding Houston to a measly 9 points while scoring 22. Ultimately the Rockets defense and career high scoring night from Donatas Motiejunas paid dividends in the win.

The victory extends their win streak to 4 and moved them solidly into the three spot in the West with losses by both Portland and the Clippers. Tomorrow all of three teams are in action again with Houston playing Detroit, Portland playing Milwaukee and the Clippers playing the Spurs.

Here’s the break down on the individual player performance from bean town.

THE STARTERS

Rockets. JAMES <STRONG>HARDEN</STRONG>. C+. <p><a href=. SG

D.  <strong><br /></strong><p>He did his thing pestering the guards, but didn’t do much to limit them nor did he do much offensively either via scoring or via assists. You love the effort he gives however I continue to believe he should be coming off the bench. Problem is with Houston trying to retain a top seed coupled with the knowledge Howard could miss multiple games they can’t really afford to play Isaiah Canaan as a starter and remove 2 core starters. Unless they upgrade via trade prior to the deadline this will be a situation that doesn’t get improved this season.  </p>. PG. Rockets. PATRICK <STRONG>BEVERLEY</STRONG>

C. <strong><br /></strong><div class=. SF. Rockets. TREVOR <STRONG>ARIZA</STRONG>

Trevor Ariza is exhausted and for one of the first times I saw it on the defensive end as well as the offensive end. Of all the Rockets Ariza is the guy who needs the break given Howard will be out and he’ll likely be the guy to log heavy minutes with Harden upon their return.
