2. Trevor Ariza
Ariza has been the second leading scorer behind Harden in the last four meetings with 16 points per contest and posting seven rebounds, four assists and two steals on average.
As the next man on the scoring list, Harden must have trusted Ariza to take the game-tying shot in Toronto on Monday.
I do not fault Ariza whatsoever for missing though. More than 75 percent of his shots have been from assists this year and he was out of his comfort zone taking those last two shots.
During the past seven days, Ariza has shot 40 percent from three but averaged 2.5 turnovers per game. Chris Paul averages 2.4 turnovers on the year and he doesn’t have the ball in his hands nearly as much as CP3. Just as every other weakness of the Rockets’ (other than free throws), everything will improve once Howard reinserts himself as a dominant force in every game.
I just hope Ariza’s legs (8th in the league in minutes per game) will last.
