Story Lines:

  • Tonight’s game has big repercussions. A win would guarantee the Rockets finish fifth at worst and subsequently guarantee them home court in the first round since their record is better than Portland
  • While the Rockets can control their own fate it is only to a certain extent. A win will guarantee they finish in front of Memphis and get home court. But to move higher on the ladder, take the division and cement who’ll their first round opponent will be is all dependent on what occurs in the San Antonio vs New Orleans game. It’s crazy that one game will directly affect the outcome of six teams. Dallas and Portland will discover their opponents. A San Antonio win will solidify them as Southwest Division Champions and a loss could drop them lower depending on whether Houston wins.
  • Last time out the Jazz thumped the Rockets by 18 points, so there is that revenge factor to address as well.
  • Other than San Antonio the hottest Western team since the All-Star break has been the Jazz. Rudy Gobert has emerged as a star in the making while Oklahoma City is discovering why the Jazz were so willing to part ways with Enes Kanter (specifically on the defensive end of the floor).
