The seasonal stats had Dallas’ bench performing at a much higher production level than the Rockets. In the first two games the Rockets bench had held their own vs. Dallas. Friday the Mavericks reserves performed closer to their seasonal levels scoring 49 points while Houston’s reserves scored 6 points less (43).

Key Match-up:

Like Friday the main players Houston will need to game plan for are Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki. Friday the two stars each scored 34 points which cumulatively was more than 50% of the Mavericks total points (128). Tonight the Rockets will look to jump out to an early lead and not allow either Dirk or Monta to get into a rhythm early.

For his part  James Harden will look to have another game similar to Friday’s performance. Part of that success came from Carlisle removing the double team and part of it was just due to him being hot and shooting the ball well.

Dwight Howard has had games in the series where he has scored well, but it was his rebounding Friday that stood out. Could tonight be the game he excels on both ends? Howard has won the battles between himself and o looked to be in peak physical form and in my opinion the best he’s looked since his Orlando days. (pre-back surgery)
