NBA Playoffs: Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Series Preview – The History

The Rockets and Clippers have a chippy past with a few scuffles as of late, leading up to this intriguing series. Instead of facing in-state rival San Antonio, Houston will look to take down LA with the home-court advantage again on their side in Round 2.

The all-time record between the two teams is 117-73 prior to Game 1, that dates back to the San Diego and and Buffalo days. The Rockets moved from San Diego to Houston in the early 1970’s, while the Clippers came over from Buffalo in 1985. The Rockets are up in the all-time match-ups and looking to add 4 more wins in the next week and a half.

A 1993 first-round series paired the two teams up, Houston was able to pull it out 3-2, before 7-games were possible. This second match-up between the two in the playoffs is sure to grab most of the attention from NBA fans, especially with a rather boring grouping of Golden State and Memphis as the other teams out West.

The Chris Paul injury/comeback, the brutal big men match-ups and more dunks than an actual full Dunk Contest every time these two play, will be the reasons that this will be the best series in Round 2.
