Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets
Western Conference Finals: Game 4
Mon May 25, 9:00 PM EST – ESPN, C+1, C+D
Toyota Center – Houston, TX
Win One At A Time:
All year the Rockets dealt with adversity. During the regular season they were decimated by key injuries yet still found a way to win. In Round 1 many pundits picked Dallas to be the team who would pick off a top team, yet the Rockets lost just once. Then in the Western Conference Semi Finals the same pundits said Houston would be lucky to win a game or two. After getting down 3-1 these same scribes were sure Houston’s goose was cooked only to watch the Rockets pull off what hadn’t been done since 2006 by joining the 8 other teams who fought back from a 3-1 series deficit.
So, now they are in an even deeper hole needing to win 4 straight games to get to the finals. Is it impossible? Well in a word no, because all records are meant to be broken. But, the difference is this challenge is far greater than any they’ve faced this season. They are mentally hurting because they know they should have brought back a split in the series and in fact played well enough to win both road games. Furthermore, the Warriors are a far superior team with stars, a solid bench, great defense and aren’t the type of team who’ll get full of themselves like the Clippers did to let the Rockets back in the series.
Bottom line if Houston want to win, they’ll need to play 48 minutes of perfect basketball on both ends 4 games in a row and hope the Warriors or Steph Curry don’t get hot at some point. The odds are definitely not in their favor, but for tonight they need to just focus on giving Clutch City one win in the series. They don’t want to finish their season on their home court playing like they did last game, the fans deserve better and quite frankly they also deserve to finish this season with an effort more indicative of their identity this year.
