“With the 18th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets select Sam Dekker.”
Those were the words that gave Dekker the biggest sigh of relief as he waited for his name to be called by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver tonight in Brooklyn, NY.
Who is Sam Dekker?
A sharpshooter who can knock down all kinds of shots.
Some might compare him to a current NBA veteran sharpshooter in Kyle Korver, of the Atlanta Hawks.
Me personally, I’ve been saying Dekker reminds me of a more athletic version of former NBA player, Keith Van Horn.
He’s a tough-as-nails, hard-working young man who made some serious noise this past NCAA March Madness Tournament, and I don’t think he’ll have a hard time adjusting to the NBA game.
Here’s some highlights from his playing days with the Wisconsin Badgers.
I can’t speak for all Houston Rockets fans, but I think they will quickly fall in love with how hard he plays and what he’s able to bring to the table.
Unless of course Daryl Morey decides to ship him out before he even suits up in a Rockets uniform.
His versatility as a scorer who can defend makes him a solid two-way player, and his willingness to hustle and be unselfish makes him a good fit to come in and contribute wherever he can.
Dekker is a talented gamer that would add to the Rockets depth.
Only time will tell whether or not Dekker will get a chance to bring his clutch play with him from Wisconsin to Clutch City.
