Houston Rockets Win Second Vegas Outing
For the second straight game the Houston Rockets entered game day of the NBA Vegas Summer tournament without three of their main players. Sam Dekker continues to nurse a lower back injury which has been simply referred to as lower back stiffness.
While the Rockets won’t want to risk injury it is somewhat disappointing management and the fans won’t get to see him in action. Let’s hope this isn’t a long term injury so we get to see him before the tournament ends.
We did finally get to see the Rockets second round pick Montrezl Harrell in action and he definitely lived up to his reputation for being an energy player with great intensity. Harrell posted 11 points, a team high 8 rebounds, a steal and a block in his first minutes of action. This underscores his activity as he fought hard in the paint and changed many shots with his activity and strong defensive effort.
Glen Rice Jr. continued his strong showing posting 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and also showcased his defensive intensity grabbing 4 steals. D.J. Kennedy was the high scorer of the day with 21 points joining 5 other teammates who all registered double digit scoring.
Alan Williams posting a solid stat line of 16 points, 8 rebounds (3 offensive), 3 assists, 2 steals and a block for a second consecutive solid game. While Will Cummings had an impressive showing with a team high 7 assists, 18 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
For the Suns, rookie Devin Booker continues to miss his three point shots going 0-4 from the field and scoring only 4 points. The high point getter for the Suns was T.J. Warren with 22 points while Archie Goodwin scored 20
Next up the Rockets will face another unbeaten squad in the Toronto Raptors Monday afternoon with the winner likely getting a bye into the beginning of the bracketed rounds
