Day 9 of the NBA Vegas Summer League brought about quarter final play with 8 teams playing 4 games to determine who’ll be reduced to 4 and enter the semi finals. We’re down to the nitty gritty now.

Spurs vs Celtics

18. . 95. 29. 93

Game Leaders:

Spurs:

Points: Kyle Anderson – 21 points

Rebounds: Cady Lalanne – 7 rebounds

Assists: Cady Lalanne – 2 assists

Celtics:

Points: R.J. Hunter  22 points

Rebounds: James Young – 9 rebounds

Assists: Terry Rozier – 4 assists

Game Notes:

Talk about the perfect way to kick off the quarter finals, this one came down to a game winning jump shot. Celtics were without Marcus Smart who dislocated 2 fingers in the game prior. While the Spurs seemed poised to take the game the Celtics fought back from an 11 point deficit with Terry Rozier hitting a step back 3-pointer to tie the game and leave a measly 2.5 seconds on the clock. In the game that clinched their appearance in the quarter finals Rozier had displayed similar hero tactics when he tied the game and went on to knock down the game winning bucket.

Unfortunately on this day it was the Spur’s Shannon Scott who drove towards the bucket and threw up a floating shot to connect and give  San Antonio the win.

Kyle Anderson was a game standout again as he’s been throughout the tournament and for Boston it was definitely sharp shooter R.J. Hunters best performance.

For Boston this was the single loss of the tournament for them while the win for the Spurs send them to Sunday’s semi final appearance versus their Eastern counterpart the Atlanta Hawks. Perhaps their opponents should pay attention as the Spurs and Hawks continue to demonstrate an ability to achieve at all levels of competition.
