There have been hundreds of players that have come through the Houston Rockets organization, but only a few had enough hops to get into the top five best dunkers in Houston’s history.
Players like Dwight Howard and James Harden have been left off of the list due to the high-flying guys from the Rockets past, even throwback players such as Otis Thorpe have been snubbed for a few members of Phi Slamma Jamma.
The Rockets have had 6 entries into the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest over the years including Ralph Sampson in the 1983-1984 season and Chase Budinger in 2011-2012. Unfortunately neither won their competition or made this list, however both players have and had great bounce.
Even with today’s run-and-gun style that Coach Kevin McHale has implemented since he joined the Rockets, there have been some thunderous dunks from this core of Rockets players. The Clippers may lead the league in dunks by a ton every season with DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin, but the Rockets and a healthy Howard won’t be too far behind.
Sit back, relax and check out the top dunkers in the Houston Rockets history!
