BIG MOVE:

The Magic began their free agency aggressively target Paul Millsap who ultimately chose to sign for less money back with Atlanta. Once Millsap was off the board they were able to offset any hard feelings to retain Tobias Harris.

Orlando  added C.J. Watson for some veteran leadership but overall the Magic’s off season has been relatively quiet. There’s good reason for that given how stocked this team is with young talent. Aaron Gordon was a beast in Summer League and Mario Hezonja will bring plenty of swagger to add to their solid youthful core of Victor Oladipo and Elfrid Payton alongside burgeoning talent Nikola Vucevic.

Perhaps the biggest move by Orlando was the hiring of new head coach Scott Skiles who will definitely focus the young talent toward better defense this season. They may not make a huge leap into the playoffs, but they can began to build winning habits.Orlando should keep a close eye on the West’s Minnesota Timberwolves to see how quickly they improve given the 3 veteransMinnesota added to their squad and consider making that their next priority given their similar wealth of youth.
