The Wizards look to take another step upward this season after 2 straight seasons of reaching the second round in the post season. The Wizards back court looks poised to continue their ascent and John Wall specifically appears ready to steal the mantel as best point guard in the Association. Yet Washington’s front court is closing in on an age where they either need to reach the top rung of the ladder or potentially changes will need to made for them to take that final step.

The loss of Paul Pierce highlights the need to make sure their small forward position is replaced along with the veteran voice he brought to the squad.   Certainly this preseason doesn’t offer many tests as the Wiz play New York and Philly three times and other squads like Toronto, Miami and Milwaukee who’ll be trying to switch positions with them this season.
