With 7 games on tap Denver will be looking to utilize the preseason to get Emmanuel Mudiay integrated as the starting point guard and for head coach Mike Malone to begin implementing his system. It’s great to see Malone land on his feet so quickly after getting the shaft in Sacramento. I’ll be interested to see if Boogie Cousins will start pushing to be traded to Denver so he can join his former bench boss; one of the few coaches he’s ever had respect for.
For his part Malone won’t be tolerating half way efforts from his squad or vacation discussions, but he also won’t sell them out publicly aka Brian Shaw. Still, it’s unlikely the Nuggets can expect a result outside the lottery, but the efforts they make to begin their rebuild with a strong rookie quarterback and some nice pieces will be the focus starting in preseason.
