The winners of the off season lottery were the Spurs. Not just because they netted the biggest prize in LaMarcus Aldridge, but also because they nabbed David West for a pittance and quietly re-signed their original core of Manu Ginobili and Timmy Duncan.  That and the sudden ascent of Kyle Anderson who appears to be ready to turn into the second coming of Boris Diaw.

Though many pundits have them finishing atop the West they need to remember as much as the Spurs are the perfect example of team basketball it takes time for new recruits to learn the constant ball and player movement system. They’ll still likely register well above 50 wins, but given Aldridge natural penchant is to be fed the ball there will be some adjustments required before he becomes as natural as the Big Fundamental in Pops system.

In their 6 preseason games they’ll face a few top teams, but the one we’ll all be dialed in for is their last match versus our Rockets.
