Houston Rockets: Terrence Jones Sits Out Practice With Bruised Ribs

By Tamberlyn Richardson

Entering the 2015-16 season arguably the front court player with the biggest spot light on him is Terrence Jones.

With Donatas Motiejunas still healing from his spring back surgery Jones will be relied on heavily to fill the gap up front. In fact, head coach Kevin McHale said the young Lithuanian hasn’t begun running yet which begs the question, exactly how long DeMo will be out.

McHale also said in his Media Day press conference the team was looking for a big season from Jones who missed 49 regular season games last year mostly due to nerve issues in his leg. Once he was back on the court Jones made significant progress, yet again he was limited when an injury occurred in game when he partially fractured a rib and punctured his lung.

The old saying “if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all” seems fitting for Jones who again finds himself sidelined with bruised ribs. The situation could be worse… he could be Derrick Rose who again finds himself sidelined with a broken orbital bone and will be out 2 weeks as per FanSided’s Pippen Ain’t Easy.

The other major injury news of training camp is Cleveland Cavalier Iman Shumpert suffered a broken wrist which will sideline him 12 to 14 weeks as he joins Kyrie Irving on the sidelines.  You can catch up on that news story at King James Gospel.

Let’s hope the Rockets decision to hold Jones out of practice and not limit his return by a timetable is more a matter of precaution than anything serious.
