The Houston Rockets took to the desert to play the Phoenix Suns sitting most of their “A” Listers in this one. James Harden, Dwight Howard, Marcus Thornton (eye) and Ty Lawson were all given the night off. On the Suns side of the ball they followed suit resting Eric Bledsoe, Tyson Chandler and Alex Len.

While the Rockets have made a point of moving the ball up court and increasing pace through their first three preseason games they got bit by the turnover bug trying to replicate that advanced pace tonight.

With the stars out resting for the night McHale got the opportunity to utilize more reserves and the players vying to fill the one open roster spot. Joshua Smith continued to make a case for why he may have the edge on “the others” though if head coach Kevin McHale decides he wants additional scoring Denzel Livingston is making his own case for the 15th roster spot.
