With no less than 13 players sidelined with injuries or being rested it was expected that the game between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Houston Rockets was destined to be another boring game between two teams clearly not yet ready for the season.

And when you add to those injuries one of the biggest attractions of the NBA in the form of Anthony Davis, it sure does seem disappointing. Davis was joined by regular rotation teammates Tyreke Evans, Omer Asik, Norris Cole, Alexis Ajinca, Quincy Pondexter and Luke Babbitt.

On the Rockets side of the floor  Dwight Howard was once again held out for lower back stiffness which has many of us pondering if this is just a ploy or if we should begin to worry about his consecutive absences from preseason play. Joining Howard were 2 regular rotation players getting rest: Corey Brewer, Patrick Beverley as well as several of the youngsters.

However, the player’s name which stood out (more for the reason he was held out) was Terrence Jones who was apparently held out for concussion protocol. He suffered a head on head collision in the Miami Heat game with Udonis Haslem who received stitches for his portion of the impact.

Nevertheless, it actually turned out to be a fun game with both teams exhibiting a lot of offensive power.  After losing the first three quarters the Houston Rockets rallied late in the final frame to get the win at home. Here’s a look at the shoot out between the Rockets and the Pelicans in the Toyota Center.
