Earlier in our Game Day preview we reported Dwight Howard was scheduled to play. This was based on head coach Kevin McHale stating the team was looking at him playing in both sides of the back to back series with Sacramento and Los Angeles Clippers tonight and tomorrow.
This was great news for so many reasons as DeMarcus Cousins the star for the Sacramento Kings is listed as unlikely to play given his sore Achilles. Given how well Howard played versus Orlando and the chemistry developing between Ty Lawson and Howard many fans were anxious to see this burgeoning relationship continue.
Now reports are surfacing on Twitter via Jonathan Feigen of the Chronicle and Calvin Watkins are both reporting the Rockets have changed their minds. Howard will sit tonight and play in Los Angeles T

Dwight Howard is not playing tonight at Sacramento.

Surely the fact Cousins isn’t playing has something to do with the decision. I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry especially given the Rockets next opponent.
You can be sure the Clippers will be looking to seek revenge for being ousted from the post season by the Rockets. They’ve harbored that anger and humiliation all summer. Furthermore chancing Howard playing tonight when the Clippers have so much talent and depth in the front court it’s hard to question the teams’ decision.
