With the Houston Rockets reeling again following another loss in Denver it may be good news for Sam Dekker that he’ll join the Rockets D-League Affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Dekker has been limited due to a sore back and other various injuries throughout the Summer League, training camp and preseason. Additionally, he hasn’t had any run with the main club in the regular season even in their blow-outs so it’s a natural transition to ship him to the D-League.
Dekker will join K.J. McDaniels who went to the D-League earlier this week. Montrezl Harr was given a shot at starting last night which had some scratching their heads given Terrence Jones was available. Assuming Harrell stays with the varsity club, he could end up joining his rookie draft mate Dekker once Donatas Motiejunas returns, so he can gain some experience and play more minutes.

For Dekker he’ll have an opportunity need to get a better grasp of the Rockets system in Rio Grande without the pressure of getting into games. The Rockets will want him to add size and muscle and continue to work on aspects of his game that made him their first round selection this past June.
