Houston Rockets: J.B. Bickerstaff to Coach the Rest of the Season

According to ESPN, Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander has said that J.B. Bickerstaff will coach the rest of the season, and then he will be evaluated once it is over.

Before Joining Kevin McHale’s coaching staff in Houston, Bickerstaff spent three seasons as an assistant in Charlotte (2004-2007), and four seasons as an assistant in Minnesota (2007-2011).

Many people thought that Bickerstaff would land a head coaching job within the next couple of seasons. Nobody would have guess it would be in Houston, however.

Les Alexander made it clear that there was no other choice. Alexander told Calvin Watkins of ESPN that he felt the players weren’t responding to coach McHale, and that he knew they were going to lose their last three games before they even played them.

In talking to Calvin Watkins, Alexander made it clear that he wants things to turn around quickly. With interim head coach J.B. Bickerstaff at the helm, the Rockets will try to fulfill their owner’s wishes with a win at home tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers.
