Houston Rockets: History Lesson

By John Bauer

Historically speaking, the month of November was a big-time month for milestones for two former Rockets legends: Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler.

According to‘s Day in NBA history section, on Nov. 15, 1995, Olajuwon became the seventh NBA player to record 3,000 blocks for a career. His seven blocked shots against the Toronto Raptors helped seal the deal for the player they call “The Dream”.

Four years later The Dream would notch another milestone on his belt. On Nov. 20, 1999 against the Seattle Super Sonics (RIP), Olajuwon became the first player with 2,000 steals and 2,000 blocks in a NBA career.

Clyde “The Glide” Drexler did his best to not be overshadowed by Olajuwon in terms of November milestones, as he became the 24th member of the 20,000 point club on Nov. 24, 1996. The month of November is a month to give thanks, so let’s give thanks to two Houston Rockets legends who made sure that, night in and night out, we were witnessing greatness.
