Houston Rockets Bench Resurgence Leads to Win – Player Grades

By Andre Cantalogo

Through the early season the one main component that has been missing in Houston Rockets games (aside from their defense) has been the bench contribution. Tonight that changed as the bench was critical to the team registering their first win over a Southwest Division opponent.

In an oddly empty Toyota Center the Houston Rockets hosted the New Orleans Pelicans for a rather sloppy game of basketball. Both teams shot under their identical season average of 44.1% from the field.

The highlight of the game was an unbelievably huge number of turnovers (season high) from the Pelicans (23) and Ty Lawson’s resurgence for H-town. In the end with the help of the bench the Rockets managed to stay ahead and grab a much needed win.

Rockets Player Grades

A. I was impressed with <a href=. SF. Houston Rockets. TREVOR ARIZA

C-. I was anxiously waiting for <a href=. C. Houston Rockets. CLINT CAPELA

C+. Not a great game for the Twin Towers today as both of them picked up fouls fast and couldn’t contribute that much throughout the match. <a href=. C. Houston Rockets. DWIGHT HOWARD

SG. Houston Rockets. JAMES HARDEN. B. A regular game from James Harden = a better game for the Rockets. I’m coming to the conclusion that when Harden drops 40 or more points it usually doesn’t end up nicely for the Rockets. He struggled from the three-point line only knocking down 1 of 8 shots but got a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. He also had 6 assists.

B-. Quiet game for Patrick Beverley as his performance was overshadowed by Lawson’s great game. Overall he was in charge of taking care of Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole on the defense and did a nice job. 10 points 5 assists for Bev. . PG. Houston Rockets. PATRICK BEVERLEY

Best Reserve
