Kobe Bryant has finally announced an official date to his retirement. Bryant has decided that his 20th season will be his last with the Los Angles Lakers. I’ll bet you are wondering what that has to do with the Houston Rockets and Throwback Thursday.
Well, not only does it help not having to face the Black Mamba anymore, but back in 2009 during the Western Conference semifinals, the Rockets felt the wrath of the Black Mamba as he dropped a 40-spot on them. He was so on that night, which is no easy feat with a defender the caliber of Shane Battier on him. I mean, he even put up a self-alley oop on us, which to me is the ultimate sign of being on. Don’t believe me? Re-live a not so happy Throwback Thursday:
Sorry I had to do that to you, folks — not every Rockets moment is a positive one. Love him or hate him, Kobe Bean Bryant is a bonafide legend who gave us plenty of moments to look back on. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m going to miss being on the anti-Kobe side of the argument. That being said I respected the way he played the game. Kobe, next season you will be missed, and thank you for all the memories. You truly are one of a kind.
