James Harden Drops 42, Igniting Houston Rockets Win vs Wizards

facebooktwitterreddit

Your Houston Rockets visited the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center this Wednesday night without Trevor Ariza (sidelined with a back injury) in the starting lineup for the first time in 104 games.

The game had two very distinct story lines: In the first half the Rockets were generally in the driving seat, building up a rather comfortable lead. The second half however was a different story with the Wizards responding after a couple weak quarters and taking advantage of Houston’s more-than-a few turnovers.

In the end the Rockets turned up the heat and managed to grab the road win on the back of James Harden‘s 42 point effort.

Rockets Player Grades

B. With the immense task of replacing the Houston Rockets most consistent player (Trevor Ariza), <a href=. SF. Houston Rockets. COREY BREWER

C+. <a href=. PF. Houston Rockets. CLINT CAPELA

Ineffective everywhere you could imagine. Poor Donatas Motiejunas with 8 months of rust on his back was actually much better than Superman. He had foul trouble early and got dominated by <a href=. C. Houston Rockets. DWIGHT HOWARD. F

JAMES HARDEN. A. Bouncing back after a nightmarish game, James Harden was once again the player we are accustomed to. He was aggressive, his shots were falling and he shot a pretty decent percentage from the three-point line (5 of 9). His only blemish (once again) was way too many turnovers (7). By nights end he had 42 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.. SG. Houston Rockets

B-. Patrick Beverley continues the early season trend of being the Rockets’ biggest threat from beyond the arc. Unusually though, he had quite a few turnovers and simply couldn’t stop John Wall or Bradley Beal. 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. . PG. Houston Rockets. PATRICK BEVERLEY

Best Reserve

Houston Rockets. MARCUS THORNTON. C. Not a great game all around for the Rockets bench. I’ll go with Marcus Thornton as I’m still amazed by his performance against the Nets. 9 points for Lil’ Buckets. . F

Best Opponent:

A. Is there anyone else, really? 26 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds and 3 steals for Eastern Conference premiere point guard. Quick, ingenious, talented, <a href=. Guard. Washington Wizards. JOHN WALL
