Houston Rockets Beat Lakers: Player Grades

By Coty Davis

The Houston Rockets concluded their three game west coast road trip Thursday night as they took on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, at the Staples Center. Coming into the game, the Rockets desperately needed a win to get their team back on track, and what better way to get a victory than to play the Lakers.

It was a wire to wire victory for Houston, and hopefully this win is the start of something big for the Rockets.

Rockets Player Grades

PG. Houston Rockets. PATRICK BEVERLEY. B-. Overall, Beverley had a good game. Offensively, his hot shooting streak over the past two games carried over to L.A. Without an all-star point guard to defend, Beverley had a quiet night on the defensive side of the court. 13 points, 4 rebounds.

JAMES HARDEN. A+. <span style=. SG. Houston Rockets

B. <span style=. SF. Houston Rockets. TREVOR ARIZA

A-. In his first game back from an illness, it was nice to see Capela back out on the floor. He had a solid game, and with 12<span style=. C. Houston Rockets. CLINT CAPELA

A. With all the rumors surrounding him heading into this game, it was easy to tell that Howard played with a lot on his mind tonight. He had a good game, and did a great job rebounding as always. However, I wanted to see more from Howard offensively because there is not one player in LA who can stop him down low. For someone who is looking for more shot attempts in the offense, missing four point-blank layups will not get the job done. He finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds.. C. Houston Rockets. DWIGHT HOWARD

Best Reserve

B-. Jones had a productive night off the bench, and by far was one of his best games of the season. If he can continue to produce like this throughout the season, Jones may work himself back into a solid role for the Rockets. He finished with 16 points, and 4 rebounds.  . PF. Houston Rockets. TERRENCE JONES

Best Opponent:

A. Over the last six games Bryant has played some of his best basketball of the season. Rockets fans, if you thought his game Saturday was good, tonight’s performance was just as great.  Tonight we saw vintage Kobe Bryant especially in the third quarter where he scored 10 of his 22 points. However, the play of the game came midway through the third when Bryant posterized Clint Capela. Do not get mad Rockets nation, just appreciate one of the greatest who has ever played. Bryant finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.. SG. Houston Rockets. KOBE BRYANT
