After their win in Memphis Tuesday night, the Houston Rockets are now 7-0 in games played without Ty Lawson.
While Lawson served a three-game suspension for his second D.U.I. charge, the Rockets managed to put together a four-game winning streak in which they were finally able to move past the .500 mark.
Whether or not the Rockets’ recent success is due to Lawson’s absence from the lineup remains to be seen. Lawson will return to the court tonight as the Rockets take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at home.
While it is fair to assume that Lawson is behind some of the Rockets’ struggles, the Rockets have also played some of their finest basketball of the season during the most recent four games Ty Lawson has missed.
Dwight Howard, in particular, has played his best basketball of the year, managing to post a double-double in each of the Rockets’ last six games.
Dwight Howard is playing his best basketball of the yr. Has posted a double-double in last 5 games. AVG 22p & 14r during that span #NBAVote

Lawson may be hurting the Rockets, but it’s much safer to assume that their recent four-game winning streak is due to the elevated play of superstar Dwight Howard.
As Lawson returns to the court tonight, Rockets fans will keep a close eye on his performance. With the trade deadline looming closer, measuring Lawson’s value is more important than ever.
